We parked RF679 in the station yard, next to RF633 and GS62. RT3062 came across the crossing and pulled up at the dolly-stop to load for its return run to Sidcup.
The Kent & East Sussex Railway was winding up for the day too. "Rolvenden" brought a train up the bank, nearly stalling as it approached the crossing. It ran round its train and cleared it to the sidings, then the DMU arrived too. Once the crossing had re-opened RT3148 came out on its way home.
There was then a discussion about which buses needed to be where for winter maintenance and / or painting, and thus who should drive which. GS2 came over the crossing to join the group with GS62, RF633 and RF679.
We set off for Ashford in RF679, with RF633 following. Perhaps because I needed to catch a train we went the direct route, up the A28, through St Michaels and out along the winding main road through High Halden and Bethersden, as the daylight reddened and the shadows lengthened.
Colin dropped me off at Ashford Station, and I went off to catch the Plastic Pig to London Bridge. I actually had a good journey, arriving at Darlington on time at 2357. A good end to a great season.
