BL49 was already there, with blinds set up for the return through Potters Bar and on to South Mimms. The blinds were reset on the RF too, and I climbed back aboard as our five minutes were up.
BL49 pulled in to let us pass and lead the way. We headed back through Northaw, past the Sun Inn, and on towards Potters Bar. We squeezed round the tight blind corner at The Chequers, and headed for Darkes Lane.
We passed a succession of buses: RF406 heading for Cuffley on the 242, RMC1476 going to Hatfield Station on the 303, and RT1702 heading for Cockfosters with a 29A. (Sorry about the wobbly photos - no camera stabiliser!)
We paused at Potters Bar for an exchange of passengers, then continued under the railway bridge, with BL49 pursuing. STL2377 made an appearance as we swung round the roundabout to head north. It was arriving on a 134.
The two single-deckers purred or roared out to South Mimms, where we stopped briefly opposite the garage for photos.
Then both buses pulled round the corner into Blanche Lane, and ran up to the terminus. BL49 pulled past RF486 to reach the stop.
Both buses had a long layover here, waiting for an RT to arrive on the 29. Claire wondered about getting a cup of tea from a relative who lived there, but there wasn't THAT much time.
Now, where was that RT? It was time for me to take a ride on a red RT!
