Chesham Broadway Running Day

Sunday 24th October 2003

Prepared by Ian Smith, 13th November 2003

Part 5: 316 to Ley Hill, and back (GS32)

GS32 was about to depart on a short working to Ley Hill, on the 316 route, so I joined John Clarke and some other passengers and we set off, northwards through the village, then turning abruptly right, to climb steeply eastwards up the valley side to the school.

Our right diverged from the main 316 route to Hemel Hempstead, forking right to pass through Botley and Ley Hill. At the far end of the village, where three roads fan out across the common, we came to The Crown, terminus of the bus route. The turn through the pub car park was awkward, so I alighted to see John round - then had a hundred yard walk up to rejoin the bus at the bus-stop.

We fielded a few enquiries from the public, and gave a couple a ride back down into Chesham. We set back off back through Botley, and passed GS13 on the next service just as we started down into Chesham.

Quickly we were back in Chesham, and followed RF457 into the Broadway through a shower of rain. The day was still changing rapidly, and a brilliant double rainbow hung above the village for a few minutes.
