I dashed across the bus station and deployed my portable "compulsory bus stop". It worked! The RMC stopped to pick me up, and I sat in one of my favourite seats (at the back, by the door). I had time to catch my breath and reload my camera.
We ran out along the Ware road, and passed along by the New River past Ware Crossing. We came up behind an Arriva Trident (5445) on the 311, and passed it. The RMC sped on, past Amwell Crossroads and down into Hoddesdon. There we had a very brief photo-stop.
We continued down through the increasingly urban landscape of the old A10, through Broxbourne, to Wormley, where the RMC turned round to stand for a couple of minutes.
The RMC then rumbled back up the road through Broxbourne, and negotiated the complexities of Hoddesdon. I had calculated that I did not have time to go back to Hertford if I wanted to catch RT3148 on its 331A run to Braughing, but that I could change at Ware. Aware that it would be a trip in large demand, I pre-arranged with Peter Aves (the RT's driver) for a pick-up at Ware Crossing. So when the RMC reached there I alighted, along with some others, and crossed to the stop opposite. The first bus along, of course, was the Hertford-Ware 395 shuttle, with Arriva Dart SLF 3483.
Now, where was the RT?....
