445 WR Windsor Castle - Eton - Datchet - Datchet Common
The 445 was a Windsor local route, providing a service to Windsor from Datchet. It started below the Castle, crossed the river Thames into Eton, then swung east to follow the north bank of the river round its bend to Datchet, turning beyond the far end of the village on Datchet Common. AllocationThe 445 had been operated by a Windsor STL, and then a 10T10 after the war. Windsor received a pair of new GSs from store in July 1954 to replace the older buses on routes 442 and 445. These were GS78 and another, (either GS77 or GS80 I think). GS78 and GS77 persisted until their overhauls in January 1959 and November 1958 respectively. The 442 had been withdrawn in October, so only one bus was now needed for the 445: spare cover could be provided by other vehicles from Windsor if required, there being no physical restriction on the route. GS30 arrived in November 58 to plug the gap, and GS40 in January 59 as an extra for the 459. At that time GS77 returned from overhaul too. The GS allocation at Windsor dropped to one in March, when the temporary allocation for the 459 ceased, although there were occasional subsequent additional visitors.
GS77 kept the 455 flag flying through to October 1962, when GS20 took over until September 1964.
Then it was the turn of GS35, until February 1966, with GS42 ending the run through to December 1966.
Then an omo RF took over.
