There we met RT604, ready to depart on the 429.
After five minutes for photographs the two buses set off. RT604 soon closed the gap behind RT3148 as we headed north from Parkgate, giving those on the platform of RT3148 some fine views.
We both turned the corner at Shelwood Cross, and headed down the gently winding lane to Strood Green.
We paused briefly at Strood Green, while our conductor, Peter Larkham, went to consult with the driver of RT604. Also here, although I didn't realise it at the time, I ran out of film. So apart from the first, the next few pictures - until we get back to Dorking - are by courtesy of Peter Larkham. We went on, down to Brockham Green, then down the winding approach to cross Brockham Bridge.
The two buses climbed the bank up to meet the main road at Brockham Lane End, and kept each other company for the two miles back to Dorking.
